Keep in mind that it is difficult to combine a surf trip with other activities, due to the distance to the surf spots, and the inaccessibility of the beaches at Witch’s and Ollie’s for non-surfers. We have found that boat riders and non-experienced surfers do NOT enjoy this trip. I would highly recommend that the surf trips be separate from the other activities (we can always meet at a beach, however, and switch out boats if he doesn’t want to go all the way back to the hotel and wants to meet up with the family somewhere else). We can certainly take care of the park entrance fees, which are $15 per person (non-resident).

Surfing Witch’s Rock

Witch’s Rock ( Roca Bruja or Playa Naranjo )= is perhaps the most perfect beach break in Costa Rica. Famous, when the swell is right, for fast and hollow waves, enhanced even more so because of the strong offshore winds that blow until around 10 30 am each day, and again in the later afternoon starting from 4 – 6 PM.

The perfection of surfing Witchs Rock is also empowered by the scenery, since the beach is located amid the second largest conservation region in Costa Rica, amid the Santa Rosa National Park and within the Guanacaste Conservation area.

Surfing Ollie’s Point

Ollie’s Point, located a bit north of Witch’s Rock, but also within the Santa Rosa National Park, is another world famous beach break ( a powerful right ) that is located within a remote, secluded and unspoiled bay called Bahia Potrero Grande.
